Editorial April’18: Society and Culture | Words from TM Editor
Hello TM Readers and Lovers!
First of all, we, at TM are feeling happy and rejuvenated with the Spring season being live and also wish you the same. May this Spring brings all the fragrance and happiness in your life and family. I hope you have made all the preparations for the upcoming summer. I hope your Cold bath along with Cold coffee or Cold Lassi or your favourite smoothies is being already prepared or stacked in your refrigerator for the long summer to come.
We, at TM was shocked and was deeply hurt with the brutal rape and murder incident of little Asifa Bano from Kathua, Kashmir. This eight-year-old Asifa was the apple of the eye in the community of Muslim nomadic shepherds called Gujjars as they love her for her sheer cuteness and she, being the little caretaker of the horses, daughter of Mr. Muhammad Yusuf Pujwala. She was found missing on 10th January 2018 and 7 days later, her dead body was found in nearby bushes with her nails had turned black and there were blue and red marks on her arm and fingers too. A cute, lively little soul has been brutally raped for 5-6 days and finally murdered by strangling and hitting with stones as reported by the investigation on Asifa’s case. The investigation has found Sanji Ram, a 60-year-old retired government officer, allegedly planned the crime with the help of police officers Surender Verma, Anand Dutta, Tilak Raj and Mr. Khajuria. Mr. Ram’s son, Vishal, his nephew, a juvenile, and his friend, Parvesh Kumar, are also accused of the rape and murder. It is believed that these accused people are trying to terrorize this Muslim community for quite a time and this incident is a blunt strike to their clash. We, at TM want a complete justice to Asifa from the Govt. Of India and Supreme Court Of India and to hang those bastards whoever are responsible for this heinous crime. This needs to be stopped! India is angry again!
The Congress Party has filed Impeachment for CJI Dipak Mishra to the speaker of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament just after delivering the final verdict on the case of death of CBI Judge Loya who was handling the politically sensitive Sohrabuddin Sheikh “fake encounter” case, in whichwas then an accused. The impeachment filing towards CJI Dipak Mishra is just for giving a mild shake to the judiciary system by the Congress party as they could not fulfill the criteria in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha due to insufficient MPs in the lower house. I think the political parties should not intervene in such things even though that party sits as an opposition party in the country as it will demerit the belief and trust on the doors of Supreme Court of India.
Coming to our TM’s current issue, we have dedicated this to the theme of ‘Society and Culture’. The interview with author Ankita Verma Dutta is a must read in this issue followed by various articles on the same theme highlighting several beliefs and policies of our modern day society and how it becomes our culture.
