There are a lot of things for which Game of Thrones is super popular.
One of them being the brutal deaths. Basically, everyone on the show has died because someone killed them (except AemonTargeryen, he died the natural death).
Of course, there were some deaths that made us cry, made us mad, and basically made us want to quit watching. But, there were some deaths that made us so happy that we literally danced on our sofas. Well, I’m here to talk about them.
Here are my picks for the most satisfying deaths on Game of Thrones.
• Joffrey Baratheon
This one has to be everyone’s favourite death scene. I remember when I was watching that episode and was super mad about how poorly he was treating Tyrion. So mad, until he started coughing, coughing real bad. It took me a second or two, to realise he was actually chocking. Queen Margaery confirmed that for me later. And then he fell off, his body started turning really blue. And finally, when he took his last breath on (in) his mother’s lap. Ah, chills chills.
Another pothead. His death scene was so amazingly filmed. When Khal Drogo poured the molten gold over his head that ultimately cooled down and turned solid. I remember the “ting” sound, when he fell to the ground. That was probably the only thing “happy” in the first season.
• The Hound
– Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why him? He’s alive. Well, I added him to this list because the way he lost to Brienne of Tarth was so satisfying to watch. How she left him in the dust was something you don’t usually get to see. He might as well have died if the good guy of the tribe wouldn’t have saved him.
• Xaro Xhoan Daxos
Remember him? I assume not. Let me help you. Remember the merchant in the great city of Qarth, who opened the gates of his city for Daenerys and the Dothrakis? Yes, you got it. He told Dany that he has got tonnes of golds and money in his secret vault that would help Dany build ships and reach King’s landing. But turned out, he had nothing. His vault was empty. Now, I hope you remember what Dany did next.
Oh she had to die, absolutely. I mean, if Tyrion wouldn’t have killed her for what she did, I would have been extremely disappointed. That woman betrayed the one person who loved her regardless of the fact that she was a prostitute. I’m glad she died.
• Tywin Lannister
• Tywin Lannister He always treated his son, Tyrion harshly. Because he was a dwarf? Huh. I’m sure everyone who watched that scene, could sense how pissed off was Tyrion but how calmly he killed his cruel father. He deserved to die. I’m sure he never would have thought that he’d die while taking a dump.
• Ramsey Bolton
Oh you thought I forgot about him? He was just as big of a pothead as Joffrey was. But, just a little cleverer. The scene when his own beasts fed on his body was a sight to behold. I literally used to close my eyes during Theon’s torture scenes. But, I watched Ramsey die, with a smile on my face.
This scene was followed by a pretty heart-breaking scene. We won’t talk about that. Just a few minutes before Hodor died, a girl from the children of the forest took that magic stone in her hand and lied down, killing hundreds of wights in the act. I believe that scene deserves more recognition.
• Stannis Baratheon
I used to like him for his focus and dedication towards his one goal, the iron throne. But when he started killing off his people just because The Red woman misinterpreted the Lord of light’s signs. He completely lost my respect when he decided to sacrifice his own daughter for the throne. When Brienne of Tarth executed him with her sword. That made me quite happy.
• Walder Frey
Okay, if Joffrey’s death was everyone’s favourite death scene, this one has to be the second best. The best act of vengeance in the whole series, so far. How Arya made him eat a pie made out of his sons’ dead pieces. And then slitting his throat with a smile on her face. All the dialogues of that scene are still fresh in everyone’s heads, I’m pretty sure of that.
• Petyr Baelish
Also known as, Littlefinger. His death was probably the most unexpected death scene, after Ned Stark of course. I personally, was extremely furious the whole time when Sansa and Arya were having a heated conversation. The continuous vicious smirk on Littlefinger’s face was making me crazy. But then, something happened and all eyes were on him. And the rest is history.
