Temple on top
It was just last week when I had a strong itch that I have not gone out exploring my beautiful planet for a long time. So I set out to visit a place where I planned to visit a long time back. The place was Sholinghur , a small town sandwiched in the border of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. My place of interest there was the sholinghur temple which is situated just outside the town on the top of a hill.
There are actually two adjacent hills having two temples. One being the abode of Lord Narayana(Vishnu) and another being the temple of Anchineya(Hanuman).
Enthusiasts like me would be happy to know that its quite easy to reach there from Chennai. I took the train Chennai-Central to Arrakonam. The journey will be around 1 hour 45 minutes. There we can take any buses to Vellore via Sholinghur and after an hours journey you are there!!
To reach the Narayana Temple you have to climb a total of 1305 stairs. But all that work does not go fruitless as the view from there is beautiful. People with ailments also don’t have to get dis-heartened as there are people who can carry you through the steps at a minimal rate. But during your advent be a bit careful because i have never seen so many monkeys at one place(not even the zoo’s i assure you) so remember to hide your food articles.
The second temple that is the Anchineya temple has only 400 steps. The speciality of this temple is that it has a small pool of water which never dries up even during the tropical summer in this part of the world.
Just near the entrance there is a large idol of Anchineya and a lake.
There are lodges available inside the premises of the temple. Peak time for devotees to come in this temple is at the year end when thousands of them come and visit this beautiful temple.
