The Perfect Gift Of Christmas
Have you ever wondered what’s the best gift you received in your life? Maybe a bike on your birthday or some money when you scored full marks in your exam paper. Sometimes you might want what your friends or relatives have. The gift that you want, you ask sometimes for to your parents or to someone who can provide you that gift. The reward or gift that you want is only temporary…today you are happy with a box of chocolates or a new dress…and then for the next year your desire level exceeds…..now you might want an iPod or a digicam. The expectation level exceeds but we forget one thing….For these gifts we have to ask…or score good marks…but then also these are temporary. With each passing year, with new technological developments, what today is better may not be even good for tomorrow.
And yet the perfect gift is given to us….by our Father, our Creator…GOD. He loves us. He is beside us. “God is so near to us, whenever we pray to Him.” (Deuteronomy 4:7, Jeremiah 29:12, 13). We did not have to ask Him and yet He gave us the perfect gift. According to John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
This is the perfect gift….Our Creator gave us his Son who died for our sins on the cross. According to the scriptures in the BIBLE…
Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, a righteous man…. But before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. This was to happen, to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”— which means “God with us” (Mathew 1:22-23)
In those days, Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And accordingly, Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem. Mary, who was expecting a child, also went with him. When the time came for her to give birth, they couldn’t find an inn, and hence Mary gave birth to JESUS in a manger, the lowest of all places one could ever imagine giving birth. But GOD chose that place for JESUS, OUR SAVIOUR, who died on the cross for our sins and rose on the third day to give us victory, to deliver us from all our sins.
This is the story of Christmas… the birth of our LORD JESUS, OUR SAVIOUR, the perfect gift that GOD has given to every human being, that his son who was blameless, took all our sins.
“Thanks be to GOD for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 8:18)
“He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)
When the ALMIGHTY GOD loves us so much that he gave his son for us, he will surely grant us all that we want. “….. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened” (Luke 11:19, 20).
